On September 28, 2015, the SEC filed a complaint against Hitachi, Ltd. The SEC alleged that Hitachi, Ltd. violated provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The alleged FCPA violations involved indirect payments to the African National Congress, South Africa's ruling political party, relating to power station contracts in South Africa secured by Hitachi.
